Ashleigh Garwood is a Sydney based artist with a practice focusing on expanded photography. She graduated from the University of New South Wales with a degree in Art Theory in 2010. In 2015 Ashleigh was the inaugural recipient of the Eva Breuer Travelling Art Scholarship, administered by the Art Gallery of New South Wales. She completed a 3 month residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris in 2016 and a collaborative science residency in the Astrophysics department at the University of Idaho in 2017. Ashleigh has been included in exhibitions at the National Portrait Gallery, Australian Centre of Photography, Perth Centre for Contemporary Photography, Hazelhurst Regional Gallery, Murray Art Museum, Firstdraft and May Space. She has been featured in Art Collector and her work is held in the Macquarie Bank Collection, various private collections and Artbank. Ashleigh is currently part of the exhibition Another Green World, curated by Andrew Frost and held at the Western Plains Cultural Centre and the NSW Emerging Fellowship, held at Artspace.
